Here are a couple of poems for Thursday...the Shel Silverstein because he is awesome, and not scary. (Besides, who doesn't love pirates?)
The second one is here because Neruda is a poet I am just starting to read.
Have a smashing day, everyone!
It's Dark in Here by Shel Silverstein
I am writing these poems
From inside a lion,
And it's rather dark in here.
o please excuse the handwriting
Which may not be too clear.
But this afternoon by the lion's cage
I'm afraid I got too near.
And I'm writing these lines
From inside a lion,
And it's rather dark in here.
I Do Not Love You Except Because I Love You by Pablo Neruda
I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.
I love you only because it's you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.
Maybe January light will consume
My heart with its cruel
Ray, stealing my key to true calm.
In this part of the story I am the one who
Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood.

Wait, what? Naruto is a poet? Does Jordan know this?
Yes...this poem makes so much more sense if you read it from the top to the bottom...
I really like the second one.
