"So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young" - John Mayer
I have really neglected my blogging as of late, but that was heavily due to the Institute Choir Concert, Stake Conference Adult session, and Stake Conference Sunday morning. I sang/conducted at all of these events, and so the preparation for these kind of consumed my week.
The Institute concert went quite well, I think. I really did enjoy conducting the three songs I did, and I felt like the choir did a wonderful job on my songs. It did feel like "the Jenny show", what with me being up and down numerous times for all of my activities. In the program I was promoted to Assistant Conductor, whichI was very excited for. Well, getting flowers at the end was nice, anyway.
The weather has been abs0lutely glorious this weekend, and so I have been doing a lot of walking. On Sunday we got a group together to walk in the cemetery. We then came back to the house and played games, followed by a viewing of "The Never Ending Story". o.k., Ashley, there is definitely innuendo in the movie with the stupid luck dragon, but I still maintain that most of it is due to our own filthy minds. Hey, I'll admit it!!

Take every opportunity to exhibit yourself
The weekend is over and I have only one week to get through. Can I?
The real question is why do I have some sort of allergy to saying "no" to people? Due to Cam and her holidaying, I have been asked to sing at the Institute Choir Concert. So, not only will I be conducting 3 songs, but I will be singing a solo as well. It will kind of be "the Jenny Show". (or maybe not. I may just be incredibly egomaniacal to say that) Whatever it will be, I think we can safely say that I apparently have a great desire to exhibit myself (be an exhibitionist?) in any way possible.
Congratulations to Greg this weekend for doing an amazing job at the "Adventure and Leisure Show" Your singing and playing were wonderful, and the fact that you did it so calmly while under the beady eyes of about 10 gazelles in the nearby African Safari exhibit just proves that you never lose your cool.
Remember the elephant foot?

don't worry, still repulsing all men. Or, at least scaring them off...
Apparently, talking to me makes you a jerk.
Just came home from the "Blades of Glory". Awesome!! (the italics imply that this word is sung in a descending minor third) I know this is the second post of the day, but blogging knows no daily limits, unlike many student bank accounts. Yeah. Best stop here before I say something really interesting.
Just really had one thing to say anyway.

I need to hang out with married people again
I am sick of many things right now:
1. The snow. Seriously, when will it stop? I just want to wear my new flip-flops from Old Navy.
2. My messy room. Remember how I'm supposed to be cleaning it right now?
3. My sick addiction to "The Facebook" It's like drugs. or candy. mmmmm...
4. Being far away from all the bois. I think I need to be in Edmonton very soon. it would be nice to be around males who are not repulsed by me.
5. Drama. Guess what everyone? I don't have it and I don't want it, so stop trying to pull me into it.
This angry post is just residue from the emo-music fest I was privy to on Monday morning. I think I will go to my room and listen to some cheerful music. First, I better check the facebook...

"What's the one thing you can't go without on a date?
This trifecta of awesome will not be attending any Manga conventions...
My love for "the facebook" is waning ever so slightly. The onslaught of friends requesting me has petered out, and I only see that others are "now friends". Hmm. So, I have cut my time to 1 hour a day. Oh, Facebook. I still love you!
I have been looking at pictures of Sam "the boi" Robertson, and wishing I was in Edmonton with everyone there. Just a quick apology to everyone here in Lethbridge for having to listen to my constant Jess and Adam stories. I can't help it if we were the l'original trifecta of awesome! Now Sam has taken my place, so I will have to hunt down Willy and Inuyasha. We can read adult (pornographic)Manga, and get matching trenchcoats. I think I will change my name to Naruto. Naruto Olsen. Yeah, that sounds real. Pretty soon, Inuyasha and I will marry and I will be Naruto Maloney. When we have a child, we will name him Gundam Seed Maloney. It will be at this point that Willy will have to find a new trifecta... and you see how this is a sad, sad cycle.
Curses on everyone who is not working tomorrow, as I will be manning the cash desk from 1:30pm until 9:30pm. So, if y'all are bored tomorrow night at say...7:30pm, come on in and say hi. maybe bring me a tall Caramel Apple Cider. (by the way, did I ever thank you for that?)
Ciao Bella

"Bearded enough lions to be a Daniel..."
12 hours in a car is nothing when compared with the concert I saw last night.
I went with Andrew to the Singers/Vox 40th Anniversary concert last night, and as anniversary concerts go, the OFS Pearl Tribute Concert was both briefer and far superior. First mistake I made: going with someone who will make me laugh at people's earnest attempts at choral music. Actually, Andrew and I were reasonably well-behaved. It was ony after 2 hours that he started texting someone, and I was day-dreaming, fidgeting, and sighing audibly.
Thre concert started out with a mass performed by Vox. This was the longest piece of music ever performed by a mediocre community choir. (Oh, hey- I was in Vox back in the day, so I am entitled!) Actually, they didn't sound as great as usual, and the piece did go on. There were some beautiful moments (Ah, Adam, I couldn't resist) like the Sanctus and the Benedictus, but on the whole it really stretched out for an unholy length.
The highlight of the night was a piece composed for the University's 40th Anniversary, and performed by the Singers. The text featured such lines as "ripped Caesarean-like", and "tasting the arts", and "Bruised by budgets". We had a dastardly time reading the "poem" without laughing aloud. Part of the song was people placed strategically throughout the audience who would randomly jump out of their seats to shout at eachother and at the choir. I know I am not mature enough for this kind of music...
And, of course, there were at least three thousand standing ovations, so Andrew and I were forced (very unwillingly) to stand, lest the composer of "Fiat Lux". who, coincidentally, was not that far from us, would force us to be "shouters" in the next performance...
Anyway, back to work today. It's been about a week, and I am somewhat glad to go back. I think. I hope someone put out the new movies.

Young people in love are very seldom...discreet
Remember how I'm never coming home?
We actually have extended our trip another day so we can do some more SHOPPING!! Utah is beautiful right now, and I think we are all trying to postpone our return to real life as long as we can. Plus, as I told Denise, absence makes the heart grow fonder...(although who is missing us, I really don't know)
So, Spring Fever has hit this town pretty early, because there were more couples on Temple Square than you could ever want. Some were even making out in front of us at Conference (Ahh! Jesus is watching and so is Pres. Hinckley) Seriously, you could not throw a rock yesterday without hitting a young couple in love. Mypersonal belief for this phenomenon is that Temple Square is like the Mormon Empire State Building. People agreee to meet there, and it positively radiates romanticism, what with the thousands of weddings there a day.
Conference in the Center was incredible yesterday. When Pres. Hinckley walked in, the entire room rose to its feet, and there was complete silence. The love I feel for him engulfed me immediately. He had a cane, but only used it to wave to people. He was so far away from us, but you could feel his love and devotion to the Lord and to all of the church as if he were right next to us. The choir was my favorite part of the session. In person they are positively magestic.
I hope everyone in Alberta is enjoying their weather!! Ha Ha!! It is absolutely beautiful here, and we will enjoy it today. Don't you worry about that, none...
See you when we get home!

The Canadian girl who went up a mountain...
To my dearest, dearest blogger:
I still love you with all of my heart, even if I have been neglecting you shamelessly for my new obsession: Facebook.
So, here we are in the beautiful state of Utah, and I do have to say, it is incredibly beautiful here in the mountains. There is still snow, and so they are extremely picturesque. We have been having a great time, just the three of us, and the only person who has been having minor meltdowns is me. Denise and Ashley may be regretting the decision to live with me and take me on this trip. I promise I will be better, ladies!!
Today we went shopping (oh, new clothes and shoes!!) and then saw the new Joseph Smith movie which was moving and emotionally gripping. We also walked around Temple Square and just enjoyed the spirit there. We have tickets for tomorrow and Sunday, and we are excited to spend more time there. Remember how we ended up staying around for the Priesthood session and were witness to a veritable sea of men?

"Welcome Back, Lady"
Hooray, I have bangs now!! Ones that do not fall into my eyes, but may or may not be flattering on me. The jury is still out.
Rant:
So yesterday I offended not one, but two customers about "The Secret". Both of them asked me if I had seen it and I said "No". Then they both asked if I was planning on seeing it, and when I said "no", the first customer asked me if that was because of all the hype. I said that my life was actually pretty happy right now. She seemed really offended that I thought her life was an absolute mess and that is why she needed "The Secret". The second lady also asked me why I wouldn't see it, and when I said, again, that my life was pretty great, she got realy huffy and didn't speak the whole time I was packing up her stuff. Then, at the end, she told me that "The Secret" would still be beneficial to me. I believe I actually said "We'll see". This lady was not happy.
Why do these people force me to justify why I won't follow their crazy little cult? Am I a bad person because I won't bow down to the great Oprah? I'm sorry I offended them with my opinion, but I can't help it if they're feeling embarassed that they are feeding in to all the hype. It would serve these people right if I just threw a Book of Mormon at them and yelled "Why won't you join my religion? Why? Why?" I actually think the best come-back to "Why won't you read it" would be: "I don't subscribe to the church of Oprah, I already have my own religion, thank-you!!"
O.k., enough ranting. I think I am letting "The Secret" control my life just a little too much, which is what I know it "secretly" wants.
Fact: I may or may not have been asked on a date today. I'm not really sure if that is what happened. Since it has been 5 years since I have been physically asked on a date, I am a little rusty at knowing how that all works. Did I imagine it? Was it a date or just a ride home? Are we just friends? Is he just doing it to get close to one of my roommates? The answers to all of these questions factor heavily in funny/tragic anecdotes of my life, so, once again, I don't really know.
Why I wish I was married #3: What has two thumbs and is completely dating-retarded? THIS GIRL!!!
Why I'm glad I'm still single:

"Where is my dignity? Where is it?"
I apparently enjoy being bludgeoned with his indifference.
Ohhh....
So last night I was sitting at the computer, trying not to be crazy, minding my own business, when I felt myself being taken over by the INTERNET NINJA. Yes, that dastardly demon possessd me and sent me to "the Google", where I may or may not have found a certain hot/cold friend's blog. The pictures were semi-delightful and the writing absolutely adorable (why, oh why are they always better on paper?). Suddenly I was emailing him and once again saying "Let's get together, yeah, yeah, yeah!" As soon as I pressed the "Send" button, I felt the remorse building up inside of me and I was suddenly on the kitchen floor cursing the heavens with every loonie I have banked up in the swear jar. Praise all that is holy, he answered me back within the night, and wants to do something next week.
Now, as 75% of my devoted readers know, this person is only a friend. However, he is all about the "Let's hang out" and the "Can I get your phone number" and then nothing for months. Don't tell me we need to get together if you're never going to call. Jess, I know, I know, I am crazy and even though you think I should be strong, I am weak like unto a feather pillow.
Off to work today where I will probably be lynched for not attending the first "Harry Potter" planning meeting last night. Sister McMahon may have killed me for not being at the Stake choir practise, and I really do fear her wrath above my boss's. But hopefully, for whatever reason , I will not be at Chapters on July 21st anyway. So.
Good Luck to everyone at the Oscars tonight (or as I like to call them, "The Vicky's) Oh, and by the way, I do know who the winners are, but I will not be seeing any of you before they are over... Ha Ha Ha!!!.....

Yesterday was the Temple Conference and I had a great time. It had been awhile since I had been to a session, and it really gave me a chance to clear my mind, feel the spirit, and think about some things. Like the Internship. It's probably just a shot in the dark, but if I did get it I would go. There comes a time when you have to stop being scared of possibilities and face some new adventures. Toronto would be absolutely amazing, if only for the music. Concerts, choirs, culture... However, this would be a great opportunity to make some contacts and work hard. I should probaly stop talking about it though, as there are probably a ton of applicants.
Only4 more days until we go to Utah!!! It's basically all we talk about here (except, of course, for the craziness of boys. I am really too old for this stuff and should probably start looking for a nice widower with 4 kids. - "the future freaks me out"!) I can't wait for nice weather, rental cars, road trip sandwiches, trying to get citrus fruits over the border, Pres. Hinckley, a weekend free of distractions, shopping, more Priesthood than you could ever want on a Saturday night, great music, the Tabernacle choir, and of course, a weekend with just my ladies.
Four. More. Days.
p.s. You need to do it if only for your own sanity! Remember, the word will not be spoken once in Utah. Not Once.

Your mom bought me this t-shirt...
Who was the guy at choir with the funny orange t-shirt? He was so cute. So. Cute. I'm sure glad I tarted it up so I looked hot while "guest conducting".
Why are we so crazy? Is it "The Secret"? Is it "Spring Fever"? O.k., I am not that crazy right now but everyone else is and somehow I get dragged along for the ride. Maybe getting out of town will be good for everyone. I hope to meet someone on Temple Square and get engaged the same day. That's right... kickin' it Utah style!! Yeah.
So, I am starting two new segments in this blog o' mine.
Reasons I wish I was married
Reasons why I'm glad to still be single
Reasons I wish I was married:
1. A movie date forever and all eternity. Sigh. If I was married I could just say "Hey, let's go to the movies", and I would always have someone to go with and talk about it after.
2. Someone to cook with. I want to be like Adam and Jess and make great food together.
Reasons I am glad I'm still single:
1. Ben Schultz. staring at me in Sunday school. At least I'm not dating crazy people.
2. Awesome trips to Utah with the ladies. Can. Not. Wait.
Anyway, I need go to bed so I can look my finest for work tomorrow, so I will think of more reasons in the weeks to come. If you have any others for me, please let me know. Yay.

Remember how I'm at home?
It's unbelievable. I can't believe it. It's unbelievable...
So, I am actually blogging from the comfort of my home on Denise's awesome computer.
We Have the Internet!!
I am pretty excited to do this for the following reasons:
1. No customers to annoy me and interrupt me.
2. The keyboards at work are actually smaller (even the keys themselves), and so I am typing with veritable ease right now. (Oh, how I don't miss my tiny keyboard...)
3. No one is going to "write me up" if they see me on the internet here. Yes, that's part of the new regime up at cash. Our new rules up there also include no leaning (on penalty of death), no throwing rolled up balls of tape against the window (just how bored were you, Stephen?) no chatting/flirting for more than 30 seconds at a time (I foresee many problems with this one for me - remember that I'm sick?)
So, yeah. Expect the blogs to come thick and fast again. Or at least more than once a week.
Ciao! (or Chao, whichever you prefer...)

Friday morning is alright for flirting
Friday, Hey!!
Denise has been a blogging machine lately and I really feel like I'm falling down on the job. So, if I am able to ignore customers, or at least tell them to come back later, I will update.
Tomorrow is the March 17th party, and thank heavens for my wonderful, wonderful presidency who I can rely on so much. They really pick up the slack where others let it drop, and I am so grateful to them. I love you girls. I know none of you read this, but I'm sure that through the power of "The Secret" they will be able to feel the posotive thoughts I am visualizing their way.
I have a new phone and it is awesome. I have yet to figure out how to add punctation to my texts, and so if you receive said communication from me, please add the appropriate commas, colons, and what have you. Thanks for the patience. Soom I will lock myself out of the house again and therefore have an hour to figure out my menu like I did with my last phone.
Just thought of a name for my phone: L'il Rings.
Awesome!!!

Just go with it, he's hot!
So, a few words about last night.
Hottest. Bond. Ever.
Oh, my barfing hobos. Daniel Craig is absolutely stunning as James Bond. I don't even like James Bond movies, and didn't even really enjoy this one. (Seriously, stop running and fighting and just smoulder for awhile in your navy polo..."as I drift off to my happy place, where i can see your face and not...") However, my dislike of action movies aside, D.C. is beyond hot in this movie. Every time he did something that required me to suspend reality, (I mean, the last time I recussitated myself in my car...) Ashley would say "No way, that would never happen!" and I would say "Of course not, it's retarded...he's hot. Oh, how he was.
Well, since I have to do this at work now, I have to go back to the kid's section where there is no internet. Sigh. However, there is Manga...

remember how it's March...
and where the heck have I been?
First: I am absolutely starving at this very moment. I did not eat breakfast, and I wasted precious energy walking to work today. (That in itself was not a bad thing, I love walking; however, if I could have foreseen my stomach starting to eat itself, I may have thought differently about my transportation situation)
Anyone who has seen me hungry (the fear, the rage, the pure inability to make any sort of rational decsion, the tears and recriminations, etc) will know that I am probably going to be a hazard to customers and co-workers alike... "Lay off me, I'm starving!!"
Anyway, not a lot new. We have tickets to Conference for Sunday afternoon and we are pretty darn excited. I am just looking forward to rollin'with my ho's in a smokin' awesome ride. (Remember how sad I am?)
Oops, I gotta go home in about 10 minutes. Talk to you soon, I hope!

Lil Dunk and her l'il snips make Wednesday nights fun
Well, its Wednesday night again, and its slowing down a little here at Chpaters 934. O.k., no its not. There was a 20 minute break between those last two sentences because it is still pretty busy. Now my other cashier has gone home, so I am alone.
In lieu of romance title night, Stephen and I have been passing our own judgements on the entries for the bookmark contest. (kids aged 6-12) Seriously, there are some interesting kids out there, and there are some who are really bad at drawing and colouring. We were probably too harsh on some of the entries, but only one person can win anyway, so the kids have to learn how to deal with rejection sooner or later. Plus, a lot of them are just not that good. Hey, its not like I could draw back then either.
I am now installed in the new house and it has been great so far. It is so fun to get a hug from Denise as soon as she gets home from work, and great to spend a morning with Ashley discussing the divine JTW. Yay, and plus I don't have to walk home. Double Yay.
As 50% of my "devoted" readers know, I am having a week free of certain distractions, and so far it has been very clarifying. It definitely helps that I have been working cash most of this week, and so have been distracted from previous said distractions by cutey mccutersons aplenty.
Why are people so obsessed? Why? ?
Thoughts?

My name is Jenny
To the customer who berated and belittled me for 5 minutes today over something that I had absolutely no control:
I hope that you feel good about bullying people to get free stuff.
I hope you know what a jerk you are, and when Karma comes around, you'll be a water buffalo in the next life going into labour while stuck in the mud.
I hope your free $10 gift card brings you ample trouble, and that the book you buy with it brings you nothing but disappointment.
I hope you lose your job and are forced to work retail at a store not nearly as nice as Chapters, where you are berated and belittled on a daily basis. But not by me. No, not me. That ain't how I roll. Remember, though, I do have evil powers, and people get hurt when I'm cursing their names. Its true. Ask Denise.

588 is the cagiest number
Inventory is a job I should never, never do.
Cut to me last night at 11:30 pm counting boxes of greeting cards and having a minor nervous breakdown. There actually were tears of frustration and rage in my eyes. What we actually were doing last night was double counting what the real inventory people had just counted, and I could not make the numbers they got match the numbers I got. I am fully aware that this is due to my inability to count and use a calculator. Numbers are just not logical to me. Anyway, there was one box at the end that had 588 cards in it. The first time I counted it I got 580. So, I rubbed my temples with slightly shaking hands and started to recount. When I only had a few cards left, my calculator (or me, I have no delusions about my math retardation) suddenly said 3318. That was the moment my laughter took on a hystrical tinge, the tears were dangerously close, and every swear word I have ever heard was on the tip of my tongue. Thankfully, that was also the time that Finula (an absolute saint of a woman), the woman who was the head inventory honcho, came to my rescue and showed me an easier way to count which took about a quarter of the time. (I think she saw that I was mere moments from hurling every single greeting card outside and starting the best bonfire ever!)
Anyway, we were out of the store by midnight, and we headed to Denny's for a fried food fiesta. Can I just say, the mini cheeseburgers were to die for!
On a happier work note, I am taking my resume to the Exhibition grounds where the 2 event coordinators are both attempting to look for other jobs. It would be nice to have an adult job and be able to pay some student loans. It would also be nice to have my own office and be somewhat challenged on a daily basis.
Wish me luck!!

Its not imaginary if three people hear it
"If only I was taller, or had a million dollars"...
Today I will be working 6:00pm until 2:00am doing magazine inventory. Is that not the craziest shift? The worst part is that everyone who has grown-up jobs had yesterday off, and so I am a hobo today. On some level it is a good thing as I will be able to start packing for the big move this weekend. I really like moving, but I detest packing, so I should probably just get down to it today. No procrastinating. Start. Anytime.
Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen for a couple of hours at least.
I absolutely can not wait to be in the new house. It will be so nice to only have to walk a few feet to bed as opposed to a few blocks. And I'm sure Denise will be glad to not have to drive me anymore. And when Braden is a full fledged driver again he will be able to cut his driving home time in half, and not be subjected to my post-midnight conversations. (1:00am is such a nice time)
Well, everyone who is working, enjoy your day, and think of me this evening while you are going to bed and I am counting magazines.
